KONG49 - Arrival Date!

Yesterday marked our arrival day!

I reached KONG HQ around noon on Friday, while Ole and OJ landed from Kirkenes airport two hours later, driving the tiniest rental car we've ever encountered here.

The day unfolded without any particular events, leading us to a 7 PM dinner featuring the customary homemade fish gratin, brimming with a variety of ingredients like bacon, ginger root, carrots, onion, leek, macaroni, and of course, fish. The wine of choice was Kim Crawford. For dessert, we indulged in store-bought chocolate pudding and custard, complemented by Amaretto and Grappa.

The weather has been unusually mild for October, with temperatures significantly above the average, hovering around 8 degrees Celsius, mostly cloudy (but clear in the evening) and breezy, even reaching just over 10 degrees during the night. We're not complaining, though.

Overnight, there's been a notable improvement in signal levels. "Notable" doesn't necessarily mean "optimal conditions," but it suggests we might be on the path to something promising.

Today's agenda includes a drive to Berlevåg to collect the rest of the seafood. En route, we plan to scout an alternative remote location to the Mount Loran site, which has been our base since 2016.

To cap off, here are a couple of snapshots from last evening: a nearly full moon at 97.6% illumination, and a glimpse of the surrounding locale.
