QS1R Extremely First Impressions

Got my QS1R today. Although I have heard of others having trouble installing it to a PC with Perseus, I decided to give it a try. Absolutely no problems at all! CPU load on my dual core 8400 processor is around 15% Perseus, 6-9% QS1R server and around 15-20% for the QS1R GUI (SDRMAX II).

What a wonderful new toy. Phil, I hope you have the recording function up and going soon.

More as I explore the QS1R, and compare it to the Perseus.

I guess it´s more appropriate that I write in english, so I deleted my first comment. I would like to see a picture of the box also, preferably lined up next to IQ and Perseus, just to get a feelinf of the size. Looking forward to see you coming comments on the QS1R. Thanks!

Well the photos I took came out extremely blurred, so this is what you get: It's the same width as the Perseus, roughly 50% higher and some 10% longer. I suppose the added height is to accomodate add-on boards, such as the preamp/bandpass filter board.

Hi! I've just found that you got a new toy. Is the QS1R sensitive enough for DXing? Thanks.

I am extremely interested in any insight into how it compares to the perseus for casual DX listeners.

For instance, thoughts on software usability, sensitivity, and so on would be very useful.

Very interesting Bjarne. I look forward to your thoughts on the QS1R v/s Perseus.

Do you have access to a WinRadio
G313 internal or external? Was talking to John Bryant the other day who has operated the G313i at my QTH VIA the internet. It would be interesting to operate one from
Kongsford.
