Coming Soon: Probably The World's Highest DX-Pedition, KILI1

From February 2, OJ Sagdahl and I will be trekking the slopes of Kilimanjaro. We will bring along a couple of ultra-light laptops/tablets, a longwire and an SDR-IQ for dark hours amusement. After the climb we'll spend a couple of days on the north coast of Zanzibar, hoping to hear some Aussies and Indonesians on MW.

This could be a good opportunity to check out the status of East African MW stations too. Please use the Comments section below, or email us direct, about stations of particular interest. We will do our best to compile a KILI1 log within reasonable time.

Who will do KILI2?

I'd say any sub Saharan signal would be interesting.

Is it not possible to take a Perseus so you ca nrecord the whole band?

Chuck, all our Perseus are busy elsewhere...and at any rate I am not able to make a Perseus work with my Surface Pro 2.

Hi Bjarne !

In case a member of the team is looking for a brand new SDR, my ELAD FDM-S1 is for sale. Powered by a 5V USB socket, no external battery required.

Regards,
Pat

Thanks for your offer Pat, but a new SDR for that expedition alone is perhaps a bit extravagant. And since we're leaving in one week it's not likely to arrive in time either.

Sounds wonderful, pure fun: have a great trip!
My record high dx-pedition is from Cotopaxi snow level at 4800 m snm: Be sure to climb higher! :)
